How DNS Leaks Happen
Normal proxy setup:
- Browser wants to visit site
- DNS lookup happens OUTSIDE proxy
- Your real IP makes DNS request
- Then proxy handles HTTP request
Your real IP is exposed during step 3.

Prevention Methods
1. SOCKS5 with DNS
Use SOCKS5 proxies with "remote DNS":
- DNS requests go through proxy
- Full protection
2. Secure DNS Servers
Use DNS that doesn't log:
- Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1
- Google: 8.8.8.8
- Quad9: 9.9.9.9
3. Browser Settings
Firefox: "Proxy DNS when using SOCKS v5"
4. VPN + Proxy
VPN handles all DNS, proxy handles specific traffic.
